How your Moon sign is found
Your Janma Rashi is the zodiac sign the Moon occupied at the moment of your birth, measured in the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa. Because the Moon is the fastest of the grahas — completing the zodiac in about 27.3 days and covering roughly 13° each day — its position is acutely sensitive to time. A two-hour error usually leaves the sign unchanged, but on the days the Moon crosses a sign boundary, and with a sign change every 2¼ days those days are common, even a small error flips the result.
